Echoes
In this memoir, I lay bare one of the most heart-wrenching chapters of my life—the loss of my father and the storm of chaos that followed. As I grappled with the profound grief of losing him, I found myself entangled in a whirlwind of cultural expectations, family tensions, and societal pressures that made an already unbearable experience even more difficult.

I couldn’t help but question why, in our community, death often becomes a spectacle. Why do we allow ourselves to be consumed by financial burdens, all to display a false sense of wealth in burial ceremonies? Why do we let traditions dictate how we mourn, sometimes at the expense of our healing? Amidst the turmoil, I clung to my father’s legacy—his unwavering kindness and humility—lessons that helped me find the strength to stand tall in the face of overwhelming challenges.
This is more than a story of loss. It’s a raw and deeply personal journey through grief, family, and the search for meaning amid chaos. It’s also a call for us to reflect on how we approach death, urging us to focus on what truly endures: love, respect, and the cherished memories that live on in our hearts.
